About Armstrong International

Armstrong International was founded in 1989 and fast became Europe's leading specialist front office Financial Services executive search firm. From its inception, SG Warburg constituted its main client; a relationship which still stands today with UBS. By 1991, we had added Goldman Sachs to our list of clients, as they sought to expand their franchise in Europe.

By 1994, Armstrong had grown in numbers to seven professionals. At this time, it was also actively recruited by Merrill Lynch to service its investment banking clients across their core businesses in equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, capital markets and corporate finance. During this period, we had the foresight to expand the sectors of our current search arena to include: commodities, structured finance, and derivative products. We additionally expanded our client base, and began recruiting exceptional talent into some of the world's most notorious hedge funds and global long-only money managers in aiding their ambitious European expansion plans.

Throughout its growth the company has prioritised long-term relationships with a pre-eminent client-base. To achieve this, Armstrong has always committed to one core European office, populated with home-grown talent (we are the first search firm in Europe to boast a Graduate training programme). Our ethos combines a very strong partnership culture with total service orientation. Our professionals will always put the preservation of client culture and needs, accuracy of introduction and speed of delivery above their own, or the firm's, short-term gains.

Armstrong will always seek to nurture its reputation for professionalism and a balanced advisory culture; whilst we have from time to time made the very difficult decision to part with some clients, we have equally, over the last ten years, shown an even greater commitment to our core client groups by shifting our service offering away from generalist recruiters to much more specialised consultants. Each consultant is driven by the desire to be the most knowledgeable and well -connected headhunter in their respective markets. We continue to develop and train our professionals to consolidate our extensive knowledge and skills, as we believe that it is the only way to deepen our access to the best talent in each of our client's markets and to shorten the delivery path to a successful hire.
